Here is a good No. 3 Cartridge Kodak Model E 119 roll film camera which was made between 1901 and 1907. It is in reasonably good condition and is as found after being closed for a very long time. I did nothing but inspect and dust the camera as the new owner may want to make the decisions as to the restoration of this camera. The camera appears intact and without significant damage. The body covering is all present with some wear as seen in the photos.
The covering is loose on the camera door/bed. The leather handle and the bellows are intact, flexible, and in good condition. The viewfinder glasses are intact but the mirrors are dirty and perhaps have desilvering. All of the wood of the body appeard in good condition.
The back removes easily and there is a Kodak 119 film spool inside. The body covering has a slight tear in the depression used to grip the back for removal. All of the brass and chrome metal surfces are in good condition with some spots of light corrosion. The lens glass looks reasonably clean. The front standard pulls out and mounts the track. The rest of the controls, movements, and shutter functions feel rather stiff and I did not test further. This camera has the basic level lens and shutter with the shutter being the automatic variety. The only significant issue I see with the camera is tha tthe front cover or bed has some warping as seen in the photographs. The door sits proud of the camera body when closed and is sligtly elevated when open.
This part is made of metal covered with leatherette. I would think it could be worked back into shape with some gentle force as it is not too severe of a distortion.I see no indication of what the cause may have been. Perhaps it was dropped at some point or perhaps it is just time that caused the issue. What appears to be the bottom of an original leather case is included as found with the camera. The leather is still pliable. The top flap of the case is detached and missing.
Overall a fair example of an unrestored and uncommon Kodak camera that is in excess of 100 years old. Additional pictures available if requested. I collect and use cameras and I do my best to decribe the items I sell accurately. Feel free to ask for additional information. That being said, we all make mistakes, so if you feel the item was misrepresented please contact me so we can work out a resolution.
